International Food Assembles

Yummy!!! Pleasant!!!! Scrumptious!! Oh delicious!!!

Words describe foods at The Spice Market Café, Shangri La Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa in Penang. My classmates and I had our dinner here for our food review.

The Spice Market Café is an informal buffet-style restaurant that offers authentic cuisines from diverse cultures that reflects Penang’s heritage as a cultural crossroads, local Malaysian foods, Chinese, Indian, Italian, Western, Japanese and international. It was called International Dinner Buffet.

Before you enter the café, you will first walk in the lobby. You will see that they were showing Malaysian heritage, which is musical instruments like Gong and others.

When you walk in the entrance of the café you’ll find the Spice Boutique, where you can purchase and learn about some of the most exotic spices in Asia like cloves, cinnamon barks, cinnamon powder, ginger roots, black cardamom, and much more. The boutique features over 100 varieties of dried herbs and spices, with varieties of other ingredients for you to bring it home.

A step in the dining hall, you can feel the friendly greet from their waiter and waitress, and they will usher you to your allocated table.

Wow! The dining hall is very decorative and gives good emotions to all the diners, it just like dine at home.

We go first to the first entrée, appetizers that help in stimulating and opening our appetites. There are varieties of fresh greens, vegetables, salads and slices of meat and poultry. Here you can design your own salad with choices of dressings and sauces served at the buffet line.

Move to the Japanese station, I was amazed by the plating of wasabi, it really look like artichoke and it was very beautiful and creative food styling. There weren’t too many eccentric choices but it was good enough to bring out the best of what Japanese cuisine actually tastes like. It was my first time to eat kimchi, and it has spicy and sour taste. Sushis were the fast seller, finishing almost immediately they were replenished.

I like the most seafood counter. There have crabs, prawns, scallops, mussels and this seafood are accompanied with their sauces. This are what I took from seafood counter. the taste is wonderful. I can felt freshness in this seafood.

Continuing my food hunt, I found the western counter. Here I have a roasted beef with black pepper sauces. The meat was very tender to chew and it was marinate perfectly.

Let’s move to Chinese and Malay cuisine, which was side by side, the local dishes, somehow seemed so familiar with what mom's cook. With the look, I know it is very delicious with ‘live’ cooking station, the cook can show their skill and ability to cook in front of their guest.

The last station, I can call that paradise of desserts. The best time you could experience in a buffet is always the desserts. This counter served varieties of mouth-watering desserts such as cheese cake, chocolate tart and I like the most their ice-cream. Because we can put any kind of topping and condiment we like on top of it. They also served a small cake, so we can easily digest and take another shot.

So here, I would like to recommend all the readers and bloggers to come and try have a meal here. You won't regret with the services. I bet you!!!

My lecturer, Madam Farina & I..

Bone appetite!!!
